Daniel J. Salvatore, Sr., 88, of Lake Hopatcong, passed away Sunday, December 8th, 2013 at Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clare's Hospital, Dover. Daniel was born in Newark and has been a resident of Lake Hopatcong since 1966. Formerly of Newark.He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Lake Hopatcong. Past president of the Holy Name Society for St. Patrick's Pro-cathedral in Newark and member of the American Legion Post 245 of Lake Hopatcong. He worked as an Administrative Inspector at N.J. Alcohol & Beverage Control in Newark and retired in 1983 after 25 years. Survived by his three children Daniel J. Jr. of Stillwater, Denis M. of Jefferson and Elizabeth A. Burne of Hackettstown.; one brother Gerard of Hillsborough. Also survived by two grandchildren Michael, and Diana. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth R. in 1999. Visitation Thursday, December 12th, 2013, 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com ). Funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 204 Espanong Road, Lake Hopatcong (973-663-0211) at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 13th, 2013. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
