Janet Joyce Flynn (nee Ardissone) of Randolph, NJ and formerly of Ridgefield, NJ, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2010 at her home with her family at her side. Predeceased by her husband, Donald Flynn, she was 71 and is survived by her mother, Louise Ardissone (nee Bagnati) also of Randolph, NJ and formerly of Ridgefield, NJ; as well as her children Judy Romano along with her husband Greg and their children Alexander, Christopher, and Elise Romano of Basking Ridge, NJ; Kathy Flynn along with her children Daniel, Erika, and Madeline Parisi of Westport, CT; Danny Flynn along with his wife Gordana and their sons Donald and Christopher of Randolph, NJ; and Peter Flynn along with his daughters Jessica and Megan of Flanders, NJ.
Janet Flynn was the 1956 valedictorian and captain of the cheerleading squad at Emerson High School in North Bergen, NJ. She worked as an editor at McGraw Hill in New York City and, after having married in 1958 and raising a family for years, she worked as a school crossing guard in Ridgefield, NJ, and enjoyed bingo and bowling. Although stricken with Multiple Sclerosis for more than 30 years, she never complained but was instead an inspiration to all who knew her. She was an avid Yankees fan, devoted soap opera junkie, coffee-aholic, and was her 10 grandchildren’s most devoted fan as they pursued activities on the ice, stage, and field.
A funeral mass and celebration of her life will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 24, at St. Patrick’s Church in Chatham, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the MS Society’s NJ Metro Chapter (1 Kalisa Way, Suite 205; Paramus, NJ 07652). Arrangements by Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph
