Obituary of Nicholas Apice

Nicholas "Nick" Apice, 86, of Brick, passed away Monday, December 20th, 2010 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick following a short hospital stay. Born in Newark, he lived in Nutley for many years and then moved to Jackson before becoming a resident of Brick in 2007.
He served in WWII as a Radio Operator for the U.S. Army Air Corp. where he received many medals.
He was a self-employed farrier, retiring in 2005 after 25 years.
At the age of 50 he became a farrier of standard bred race horses in the Freehold Raceway area. He was a member of the Standard Bred Owner's Association. He was the former owner of Ja-Ken Farm, Jackson, NJ, named after his grandsons.
Survived by Ruth, his wife of 67 years; son Robert of Jackson, daughter Carole Adessa and her husband Kenneth of Lake Shawnee; two grandchildren Jason Apice and wife Cari of Middlesex Borough and Kenneth Adessa Jr. and his wife Jodie of Rockaway; and two great-grandchildren Shaun Michael Apice and Leo Daniel Adessa. Also survived by two brothers Anthony and Dominick; two sisters Edith Lakeland and Angela Paul and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010, 4 - 7:30 P.M. at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com ). Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday.
Friends and family are invited to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 23rd, 2010 for procession to Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover for the interment.
