Age 73, Mount Arlington Richard P. Ashton passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, NJ after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Dick was born in East Orange, NJ and has lived in Mount Arlington, NJ and Myrtle Beach, SC for the last five years. Dick was a successful engineer/consultant working at Picatinny Arsenal for over thirty years. He enjoyed his career and colleagues immensely. Dick is survived by his wife Marlene Ashton, his daughter Tina Merola, her husband Joseph Merola, son Richard Ashton, Jr., son Raymond Ashton, his wife Connie Ashton and his two grandchildren Nicholas and Christopher Merola. He found great happiness and pleasure in running a yearly father and son golf outing in Myrtle Beach, SC for the past seven years for his friends and their families that he met through Picatinny Arsenal. Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011,10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 P.M. also at the funeral home.
