Charles Sestak
Rockaway Township – Died peacefully on Monday June 6, 2011 at Hackensack
University Hospital, he was 68 years old. Charles was born on April 12,
1943 in Dover General Hospital. He was the youngest child of Frank and
Mary (Payda) Sestak. Charles attended Rockaway Township school systems
and graduated from Morris Hills Regional High School in 1964.
Charlie was a volunteer fireman at the Mount Hope Fire Company #2 for
many years. He worked for the Rockaway Township Road Department for 37
years, retiring in 2005 as a Road Supervisor. After retiring Charlie
and his wife Sandra toured most of the continental USA, including Alaska
and the Yukon Territory. Charlie truly enjoyed his retirement years.
He was an avid toy truck collector who enjoyed attending the annual
Macungie Antique Car Show and the Jack Town Steam and Engine Show.
Charlie was a former member of the Easy Diggin Association. He loved all
animals, especially when Bambi came for their nightly corn meal. His
favorite co–pilot and buddy in the car was his dog “Brandy.” He loved
the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his hunting buddies.
Charlie never passed up stopping by a garage sale and finding a great
treasure, which might show up at his annual Labor Day picnic.
Charlie was a people person, always willing to help anyone at any time;
always willing to share his tools or lend a hand if you needed it.
Charlie’s siblings, Anne Doniloski and John Sestak died previously. He
is survived by his beloved wife Sandra (Van Sickles) of Rockaway
Township; his brother Frank of Sharon, MA; many nieces and nephews; and
a large family of friends.
