Obituary of Robert A. Davis

Robert A. Davis died on Monday, August 8, 2011 at his home following a long illness. He was born July 10, 1929 in Oneonta, NY, but lived his entire adult life in the Dover area. His parents were A. Bertram and Sarah (Moser) Davis. He was 82 years old.
He earned a BA degree, magna cum laude, at Carson Newman College and did graduate study at Duke University and Stevens Institute of Technology. He was employed at Picatinny Arsenal for 42 years in the Quality Assurance Directorate and was the recipient of the Commander's Award for Civilian Service as well as numerous other awards for outstanding performance.
He was an Army veteran having served in the Ordnance Corps as an instructor at the Ordnance School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD during the Korean conflict.
His faith was in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He served as a Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church of Dover where he also was on the Board of Trustees. He was a charter member of the Founders Baptist Church of Dover, established in 1978, where he was Treasurer for 25 years and was serving on the Board of Trustees at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sarah (Fichter); son Steven (Norma Stites); daughter Sarah Leffel (Carl); son Mark (Donna Fee); grandsons Joshua and Jonathan Davis and sister Margery Gumpy.
Visitation on Sunday, August 14, 2011, 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Founders Baptist Church, 39 Orchard Street, Dover at 11:00 A.M.. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover.
