Obituary of Harry Bonnet

Harry Bonnet, 86, of Hackettstown, passed away Wednesday, January 1st, 2014 at Paragon Village, Hackettstown. Born in Newark to Harry and Marie Bonnet. He graduated Newark Central High School. Harry served in the US Army, European Theater. He attended Seton Hall. Started H. Bonnet Insurance in 1953, West Orange. In 1975 he changed business to H. Bonnet and Daughter when daughter Charlene got her insurance license. He was ahead of his time because he felt business should be father daughter not just father and son. The business still continues 60 years later. Harry lived in West Orange from 1950's to 1980. He served on the West Orange council for three terms. He was also a tax judge for county of Essex. Past president West Orange Lions Club; Board of Directors West Orange Savings & Loan; member of American Legion Post 22, West Orange Mountain Club, just some of his many civic and charitable ventures. Moved to Toms River and West Palm Beach, FL in 80's. He enjoyed golf, being with his five grandchildren, his beloved Boston Red Sox and winters in FL. His wit and humor will be missed by all who knew him. Harry was predeceased by his beloved Genevieve (Paletta). He is survived by daughters Charlene and husband Raymond Garthe, Patricia and husband James Garthe and his most adoring grand kids Greg and Erin, Courtney and Jay, Kyle, Kelly and RJ and Tracy and Jamie. Visitation Monday, January 6th, 2014, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph with a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. (www.tuttlefh.com ). Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in his memory to the West Orange Rotary Foundation, PO Box 467, Brookside, NJ 07926.
