Natalie Furstman Basch, formerly of Dover, passed away on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012. She was born in Dover, New Jersey in 1921 and lived there with her husband, Ivan, for most of her life. A few years ago they moved to Franciscan Oaks in Denville, NJ. She and Ivan married 69 years ago in Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky in 1943, a month before Ivan left for overseas duty in WWII.
A graduate of Dover High School and Drexel University in Philadelphia, Natalie spent her early professional life teaching at Centenary College and Rockaway High School. Later she taught eight grade English at Dover Middle School. After Natalie retired from teaching, she and Ivan traveled extensively. She loved reading, weekly bridge games, and celebrating many birthdays with her "forever" friends.
She is survived by her husband Ivan, her three daughters Karen Lobron and husband David of Long Valley, Barbara Bergman and husband Eric of Potomac, MD, and Susan Marr and husband Stephen of Basking Ridge. She is also survived by her eight cherished grandchildren Matthew Lobron and wife Stephanie, Ben Paletsky and wife Stephanie, Daniel Bergman and wife Melissa, Rachel Paletsky Ash and husband Richard, Sarah Marr, Jed Bergman, Samantha Marr, and Seth Marr, as well as three great-grandchildren. Also surviving Natalie is her sister-in-law Beatrice Schrank and many nieces and nephews. Natalie was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Janis Paletsky, grandson Alex Lobron, brother William (Bud) Furstman and sister Ethel Schwarz.
Natalie's family and friends were paramount in her life. She looked forward to her daily phone conversations with her daughters and frequent family and friend gatherings. Her grandchildren visited and called regularly and she enjoyed hearing about each of them. Natalie was loved by all and will be missed.
