Obituary of Florence Holmes
Florence Holmes, 95, of Randolph, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at her home. Florence was born and raised on a farm, one of thirteen children in Waymart, PA. She graduated from Waymart High School, she walked six miles a day to school and never missed a day from Kindergarten through 12th grade. She graduated from Dover Business College.
Florence worked for the County of Morris, Warner Lambert International and Rockaway Township Police in the Juvenile Department, where she retired after 25 years of service.
Florence, like her sister was a Rosie the Riveter at the GM plant that was an airplane factory. She was a drill press operator and grinder and worked until the end of the war.
She was involved with the Randolph Democratic Committee. She enjoyed numerous cruise trips with her husband.
Florence is survived by her two children Patricia Feehan of Randolph, Kevin and his wife Sue of Newtown, PA; daughter-in-law Janice Holmes; four grandchildren Kevin Feehan and his wife Meghan, Michael Feehan and his wife Courtney, Christine Feehan and Jeremy Holmes; five step-grandchildren Jason, Diana and Erica Fowler, Brian and Scott Roland; eight great-grandchildren; sister Maryann Propeak; brother Thomas Burrier and his wife Jean and her caregiver Tanya. She is predeceased by her husband John in 2015 and her son John in 2004.
Visitation Tuesday, March 27, 2018, 2:00-4:00PM & 6:00-8:00PM, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Mass Wednesday, March 28, 2018, 10:00 AM at Resurrection Parish, Randolph. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
