Obituary of Wanda Gorecka
Dr. Wanda Gorecka (Bator), 80, of Morristown, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at her home. She was born in Poland in 1938 to Karolina and Jakub Bator. During her childhood, Dr. Gorecka and her family were deported to a Russian labor camp in Siberia. They returned to Poland after World War II.
Dr. Gorecka was an outstanding student, graduating as valedictorian of her high school and finishing medical school in 1963. She worked as a pediatrician for 15 years in Poland. In 1979, she emigrated to the United States, where she learned English, passed her medical exams, and completed her residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital. She was a pediatrician at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ for 20 years before retiring at age 70. Throughout her career, she saved many lives and is remembered as a kind, honest, brilliant, and devoted doctor.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years Marian Gorecki; her daughter Margaret Petersen; her grandchildren Dominica Donnal (John Donnal), Conrad Petersen, and Camille Petersen; her great-granchildren John W. and Jacob Donnal; her sisters Barbara Fargano and Basia Bator; and her nephew John Jacob Fargano. She is preceded by her parents Karolina and Jakub Bator and her son-in-law Ronald Petersen.
Dr. Gorecka enjoyed nature, gardening, taking care of animals, spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, and the opera. She is remembered by loved ones as a truly remarkable person who was full of warmth, energy, and life -- and who cared for others with an unparalleled commitment and passion.
Visitation Wednesday, April 25, 2018, 6:00-8:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Mass 11:00AM, Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Resurrection Parish, Randolph. Interment is private.
