John R. Boyle
Mr. John R. Boyle, 69, of Mine Hill passed away Wednesday, September 9th, 2009 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, following a short illness. Resident of Mine Hill for 41 years, moved here from Newark, where he was born and raised. He recently purchased a vacation home in Port Orange, FL.
Mr. Boyle was born in Newark.
He worked as a Senior Estimator at Torcon Inc., Westfield, and retired in 2004 after seven years there and forty years in the construction industry.
He attended the Blessed Sacrament School in Newark. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Junior and Senior Drum and Bugle Corps for ten years. Member of the Antique Automobile Car Club and proud owner of a 1925 Mercer Raceabout which has been in his family since 1938 and he has owned for fifty-two years. He was an active member of the Mine Hill Fire Department for the last thirty-nine years, serving as Fire Chief in 1982, and also a member of the Exempt Fireman's Association. He was also an avid gardener, swimmer and neighborhood handyman.
Survived by Carol, his beloved wife of twenty-eight years; three daughters Carolyn Lassell and her husband Steve of East Stroudsburg, PA, Yvette Litts and her husband Ron of East Stroudsburg, PA, Deborah DePue and her husband Fred of Budd Lake, step-daughter Denise McMillan and her husband Rod of Dowingtown, PA, step-son Rick Post and his wife Janel of Rockaway Boro. Also survived by six grandchildren Raymond, Sara, Eric, Christopher, Luke and Jackson and also survived by his twin brother Robert Boyle and his wife Rita of Maplewood.
Funeral Services will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph, at10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 14th, 2009. Visitation Sunday, September 13th, 2009, 1 - 5 p.m. at the funeral home. (www.tuttlefh.com)
Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Dover.
