Obituary of John T Bowden
John T. Bowden (Jack) age:75
John T. Bowden, 75, of Dover, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at his residence in New Jersey. Jack was born in Detroit, Michigan to William and Mary Bowden in September 1943. His strong and spirited mother returned the family to the Bronx in 1948 following the untimely death of her husband from meningitis. Jack attended Power Memorial Academy and then proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict.
During his time in the Army, Jack became an expert marksman and developed a lifelong passion for shooting. He later became a founding member of the Shongum Sportsmen’s Association in Mansfield NJ, where he participated in and helped organize countless pistol and rifle matches for the Division of Civilian Marksmanship. His love of shooting also brought him to national matches in Camp Perry, Ohio and on a treasured safari hunt in South Africa for his 50th birthday.
Jack moved to Dover, NJ in 1976 following his marriage to Joann Andruseaski. He spent 40 years working for the NY Telephone Company as an installer on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange before retiring in 2007. His weekends were spent far from New York City at the family house in Pond Eddy, NY. At this serene locale along the Delaware River, he enjoyed indulging in his favorite recreational pleasures -- hunting and fishing, spending time with his family and joining good friends for a few beers at Rohman’s Pub and the Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joann; two beloved children, a son, John (Ana De Jesus) and a daughter Joanna (Mark Frenzel); along with 3 precious grandsons, Diego, Alexander and John Wayne. He leaves behind a brother, Bill (MaryAnn) of Coram NY, and sister, Kathie Joseph (Vincent) of Lords Valley, Pa. and many more nieces, nephews, and friends.
