Obituary of Joseph W. Rooney
Joseph Rooney, 73, of Randolph, New Jersey passed away peacefully October 24, 2019.
Joseph was born on September 8, 1946 in Orange, New Jersey to the late Joseph and Helen Rooney.
Joseph served in the United States Army from 1965-1967 and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War 9th Infantry Division. Upon returning from war, he was employed as an auto-mechanic at several dealerships and repair facilities. He owned and operated his own service center and then transitioned into education. First, teaching automatic transmission repair at the Essex County Correctional Facility. He then taught auto-mechanics at the Morris County School of Technology in Denville, New Jersey and retired after a 30 year career. Joseph was a hard worker who loved anything to do with cars, but above all he loved his family and close friends.
Joseph is survived by his loving children, Roland Rooney and his fiancé Hannah of Palm Harbor, Florida; Elayne Rooney-Moyer and her husband Daniel of Orlando, Florida; Michelle Rooney-Kurtz and her husband Robert of Fort Mill, South Carolina; Kelly Antunes and her husband Gene of Morris Plains, New Jersey; and Joseph Rooney and his wife Sarah of Long Valley, New Jersey. Also his loving grandchildren, Collin, Keaton, Madison, Brayden, Landon, Lily, Julian, Allie, Colton, and Grayson. He is also survived by his sisters Helen Simpson and Rosita Olpinski, and brothers William and Michael Rooney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Patrick.

Funeral Mass at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 335 Dover Chester Rd., Randolph, New Jersey 07869 on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11:00AM.
