Amalia Mpakarakes, 93 of Denville, New Jersey passed away on April 6, 2020 at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey due to respiratory illness.
Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph New Jersey is making all arrangements. A video tribute may be found on their website: tuttlefh.com. Visitation will not be held due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Funeral service will be held at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church on April 11th at 11 AM, however only immediate family will be in attendance due to state law in effect. The funeral service will be live streamed on St. Andrew church website: Standrewgonj.org. Private burial will follow on April 20th at Cypress Hill cemetery in Brooklyn New York. Amalia Mpakarakes was born Amalia Pavlides on January 22, 1927 in Brooklyn New York to Aristotle and Angelica Pavlides. After graduating from Girls Commercial High School in 1945 Amalia went on to study accounting. She most recently worked as bookkeeper and office manager for the Center for Women’s Care for 16 years. Prior she worked for Sterling drug company in the Accounting department. Amalia Mpakarakes is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Mpakarakes, her brothers James and George Pavlides and her parents Aristotle and Angelica Pavlides. Amalia Mpkarakes is survived by her daughters Regina Kaplan and Angelica Pavoni and her grandchildren Dean Kaplan, Alexander Pavoni, Elena Kaplan, and Nicholas Pavoni.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association alz.org, to St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church at Standrewgonj.org, or to the JDRF/Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at JDRF.org.
