Obituary of Joseph Patrick Tansey

Joseph Patrick Tansey, age 60, passed peacefully on April 6, 2020.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Jeanne (Bahrenburg); his three sisters Deb (Gary) Zimmermann; Kathleen Tansey Garrett (Brian Hutton); and Joyce (Jay) Williams; and six nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Maureen (Mullan) Tansey.
Joe was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Queens, NY and spent his childhood in Merrick, NY graduating from Sanford Calhoun High School and attending SUNY Stony Brook. Joe had a career in banking that he enjoyed, ultimately spending 16 years with Amalgamated Bank in NYC, while living in Randolph, NJ. Throughout his life, Joe was an avid reader of history and fiction, and enjoyed listening to music. Joe was a proud Eagle Scout, and he enjoyed camping, playing golf, photography, traveling especially to Ireland, and rooting for his favorite sports teams, the Jets and Yankees. Joe’s true love though was always for his wife and he kept close with family.
The family is especially grateful for the wonderful and loving care Joe received over the years at Morristown Medical Center and from Eugene, Asmah, and Isaac.
The family will celebrate Joe’s life from a social distance via zoom to to be determined at a later date with a Prayer Vigil also, with a time to be announced.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Resurrection Parish Catholic Church, 651 Millbrook Ave, Randolph NJ 07869 (973) 895-4224. An inurnment service will be held at a later date at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 1105 Morganton Rd, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
