Robert Badini
June 11, 1926 – December 16, 2020
Roxbury Township - Robert Badini passed away at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, on Wednesday,
December 16, 2020. Born in Phillipsburg, NJ in 1926, Robert was the third of nine children. He was a
graduate of Phillipsburg High School and enlisted in the US Navy shortly after graduation. He served
during WWII from 1944 – 1946 in the Pacific theater. Upon his return to civilian life, he enrolled at
Churchman’s Business College in Easton, PA, graduating in 1948. He started his career working for the
Warren Foundry and Pipe Corporation, and then in 1961 he took a position as Business
Manager/Secretary for the Jefferson Township Board of Education, this lead to his becoming the first
Township Administrator for Roxbury in 1967. He left his position with Roxbury in 1982 to become the
City Manager of Garfield, NJ until 1984. He then became the Administrator for the Borough of
Hopatcong until his retirement in 1988.
Throughout his life he was very involved in the Roxbury community, serving as a Little League Baseball
officer and manager, and assistant youth football coach in the 60’s and 70’s. He was one of the
founders of the Roxbury High School Wrestling Parents Association, serving as its first President. He was
a trustee of the Roxbury Public Library. He joined the Rotary Club in 1963 and was an active member for
many years, serving in many posts, including President and receiving their Paul Harris Fellowship. He
was on the Roxbury Township Council and served as Mayor in 1994. He was on the Roxbury Township
Planning Board and the Environmental Commission. He also served on the Roxbury Township Board of
Education for many years, serving time as Vice President and President.
He loved being with his family, cooking, especially the Sunday dinners and doing crossword puzzles. He
was a lifelong Yankee fan, he and his wife were also long time loyal fans of Roxbury High School
wrestling and football, attending matches and games for over five decades.
Predeceased by his wife Grace, his Father and Mother, Amedeo and Augusta, his brothers, Mario, Louis
and Amedeo Jr., his sisters Maria Kessler and Dorothy Miller, and his daughter-in-law Nancy. He is
survived by his sisters, Carolina Celebuski, Pauline Badini, Virginia Cooper and his children Tammy Doll
and Barry, Jeff Badini, Kirk Badini and Cheryl, Todd Badini and Edgardo. His grandchildren, Mickey Badini
and Gilceli, Colin Badini and Christina, Tracy Badini and Jorge, Shannon Van Splinter and Jim, Sean
McCrudden and Alisha, Ryan McCrudden and Katie, Alannah Badini, and Jarrett Badini. His great
grandchildren, Mason, Mitchell, Santino, Angela, Luciana, Emily, Elizabeth, Cai, Cian and Dominic.
Memorial Visitation will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph, NJ (Tuttlefh.com) on Tuesday, December 22, 2020
from 4:00PM – 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in his name to: Roxbury Rotary Club,
