Obituary of Orvaletta Thonie

Orvaletta Thonie was born in Mendham, NJ on May 26, 1930 to Joseph and Adaline Evins.  She passed away peacefully at her home in Kenvil on Friday, March 12, 2021. She had lived in Mendham unitl 1942, then she moved to Mine Hill, NJ and graduated from Dover High in 1948.  Orvaletta and her husband Grover built the buiding called the Holiday Chalet at 139 Route 10, Succasunna, they then sold a very successful party shop after 13 years in 1976.  They also opened a kitchen store in Ledgewood.  She was very active in the Ever Young Seniors of Roxbury and she also enjoyed luncheons with the Red Hot Royals.  Her husband Grover precedeased her on May 26, 1992.  Orvaletta married her good friend Howard Dalrymple of Kenvil, in 2010 who also predeceased her in Novemeber 2013. She is survived by her loving and devoted son David and many cousins. A visitation will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph ( Tuttlefh.com ) on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 12noon to 2:00pm with the Funeral Service at 2:00pm also at the Funeral Home. Internment to follow at the Mendham Hilltop Cemetery, 18 Hilltop Rd., Mendham.
