Obituary of Enrico Hank Togna, Sr.
Enrico Togna “Hank”, 92 passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover. Hank was an active senior, he walked the Townsquare Mall most mornings after breakfast at the Townsquare Diner. He authored the published autobiography “Everyday It Got Better”. Hank was proud of his US Navy experience as a member of the first class of frogmen in UDT, the precursor to the SEALS. He was born in Avon, CT., and raised in Gardiner NY and he worked the dairy farms throughout his youth until he joined the Navy at age 17. He enjoyed hunting and talking sports with his son Hank Jr., his son in law Joe Kethley and his grandsons Joseph A. Kethley IV and Nicholas J. Kethley.
He married Elizabeth McCluskey in 1952 and started Togna Construction Inc. he was a Carpenter, Stone Mason and a General Contractor. He had built homes in Essex, Union, Morris, Sussex and Somerset counties. He also enjoyed listening to his granddaughter Nancy Togna play piano. Hank was a member of the Elks Club and was active when it was located in Dover and he participated after merged to Mt. Arlington. He was also a member of the Italian American Club in Dover. He is survived by his daughter Elisa Kethley, son Enrico Togna Jr., grandchildren; Joseph A. and Nicholas J. Kethley and Nancy Togna, his sisters Fran Hallowich and Helen Hoffmann.
