Obituary of Mary Margaret Tominac
Mary M. (Ala) Tominac was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 9, 1939 to Luciano Ala and Mary (Nardi) Ala. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on May 24, 2021. Mary graduated from Marygrove College with a BA in Early Childhood Education and earned her MA from Wayne State University and Merrill Palmer Institute in Special Education and Emotionally Disturbed. She taught elementary school for 10 years in Michigan before moving to New Jersey in 1970. In NJ, Mary resided in Randolph, and was active in the community as a member of the Ironia PTO, and the Randolph Board of Education, having served as Vice-President and President during her tenure. In 1986, Mary became a sales representative for McDougal Littell - Houghton Mifflin. Her successful career with them spanned 15 years. She retired in 2001 to focus on her family.
Mary and her devoted husband Mark were married for 51 years. They have three children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mary enjoyed family gatherings, participating at church, and playing with her grandchildren and her great-grandchild. She had a love for music, dancing and reading. In addition, she enjoyed playing Texas Hold'em poker with friends.
Mary is predeceased by her mother Mary (Nardi) Ala, her father Luciano Ala and sister Rose Mary Ala. She is survived by her husband Mark, her children, Michael Tominac and wife Agata, Amy DeLucca and husband Chris, Adam Tominac and wife Sharon. She's also survived by her grandchildren Eric, Samuel, Gabriella and Matthew and her great-grandchild Everleigh. Other surviving family members are her sister JoAnn (Dan) Galasso, her brother Michael Ala, her Aunt JoMarie Nardi and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Parish, having served as a Eucharistic Minister for several years.
Visitation for Mary will be on Thursday, May 27th from 9:30AM - 10:30AM at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ. Mass will follow at St. Matthew the Apostle Parish in Randolph at 11AM.
Private burial for family will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ.
