Obituary of Domenico Antonio Verrone
Domenico Antonio Verrone; aka, Tony, age 87, died peacefully at his home in Randolph NJ on May 25, 2021.
Tony was born in Case Del Conte, Italy to parents Angelo & Filomena Verrone. He came to America and settled in Paterson NJ. He began his career as a leather craftsman, owning his first store in Fairlawn NJ. He then moved to Wayne NJ to raise his family and also moved his business to Wayne. He moved once more in 2007 to Randolph NJ and brought his faithful business followers to his new business location in Lincoln Park NJ where he ran his famous “Tony V’s Shoe Repair & Leather Shop”. He eventually retired at the ripe age of 85 years old.
Tony was a very passionate and friendly man. His favorite passions included gardening, sports, horseracing, poker games, playing soccer, coaching, bowling, wine making, walking, cooking and spending time with his family.
He truly loved being surrounded by his family; particularly his 8 grandchildren. He loved attending all of their sporting events and teaching the tricks of his trades.
Tony is survived by his children, Dana Verrone Tamminga & her husband William of Randolph, NJ, David Verrone & his wife Melissa of Flanders NJ, and his daughter in law Elaine Verrone of Ledgewood NJ. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren; Christopher Tamminga, Rachael Verrone, Joseph Verrone, Nicholas Verrone, Francesca Verrone, Stefan Tamminga, Anthony Verrone, & Gina Marie Verrone.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia Stoker Verrone, his son Stephen Verrone, his granddaughter Corina Alexa Tamminga, and his two brothers Emil Verrone and Nicholas Verrone.
Visitation will be Friday at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be at 9:30am on Saturday also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester NJ.
