Obituary of Kathleen Mary Wetzel

Kathleen Mary Wetzel (nee Collins) of Randolph, NJ passed away Saturday, November 6th, 2021. Kathy was born in Pittsburgh, PA where she spent her early childhood years. The family moved to Bethlehem, PA when she was a teenager. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Easton, PA in 1964.

She attended Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as an RN in 1967. After graduation she moved to New Jersey and started working at Saint Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, NJ. Soon after starting her career in nursing, she went back to school at night and got her BSN at William Paterson College. She did not stop there. She continued with her education at Seton Hall University and earned a MBA in Finance in 1982. Upon finishing her MBA, she changed her vocation working as a business analyst for Monroe System for Business. Also, at this time, she joined the Board of Directors for the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern Jersey and served as the President of the Board from 1987 to 1995.

She was a founding member of Resurrection Parish in Randolph, NJ and was a member of the choir for over 40 years.

Upon the arrival of her son Matthew, she became a devoted mother, full-time homemaker, tutor, and “driver” to many baseball and soccer practices/games. She continued her volunteer work at the VNA, Resurrection Parish, and joined the parent support groups at her son’s schools.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years Bill, her son Matthew and wife Carolyn; her brother Bob and wife Jenny; and one cherished granddaughter Emily. She was predeceased by her parents Edward J. and Mary A. Collins (nee Curtin); and brothers Edward K. and Raymond E. Collins.

Funeral Mass 10:00 AM on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Resurrection Parish, Randolph.

Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester.
