Obituary of Cynthia Leslie Collins
Cynthia Leslie Collins, 61, of Mine Hill, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 after a long battle with breast cancer.
Cynthia was born on April 11, 1960 to John and Barbara Vill in New Brunswick, New Jersey. After graduating from Morris Knolls High School in Denville, NJ in 1978, she worked as a banker for Valley National Bank while attending Montclair State College, graduating with a degree in History. She was so dedicated to education, she decided to go back to school in 2007 to obtain a teaching certificate at Saint Elizabeth University. She was a substitute teacher at Canfield Avenue Elementary School, and then worked as a paraprofessional at East Dover Elementary School until her death.
When not working, she was very involved in the Mine Hill community by volunteering tirelessly with the PTA, the historical society in Dover, organizing the annual Soup Sampler, and serving on the town council for 8 years. Her passions included watching football (Green Bay Packers all the way), sewing, music, and love for teaching.
Cynthia was a neighbor and friend to all. She always saw the good in people and was a great listener if you needed a friend. We will miss her warm hugs, patience, and contagious smile that brightened up the room.
Cynthia is survived by her loving husband Tim; her daughter Nicole Collins and husband Alexander Vega Ortiz; her sister Karen Cooper and husband Evan; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and great-nieces.
