Obituary of Margaret Helen Winters

Margaret Helen Winters, loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2022.

Helen was born on June 23, 1929, in Dover, New Jersey to immigrant German parents, Friedrich Albin and Alfrieda Schumann.  Helen was raised in Dover, New Jersey where she spent most of her life, graduating Dover High School and was a loyal employee to Kresges Department Store, retiring from her position as a secretary to marry and raise a family.

Helen was the devoted mother to her children, Genevieve Winters, Jacob Eli Winters, Paul Winters, Karl Otto Winters, his loving wife Cynthia Lee Winters, and Rosemarie Winters.  She is predeceased by her daughter, Juanita Linda Mueller.  She was the loving grandmother, affectionately known as (pronounced in German, “Goose-mummaw”), “Grossmama”, to Natasha Ortiz, Lance Winters, Arielle Winters, Robin Winters, Magdalena Mueller, Hamish Mueller, and she was the loving great grandmother to Elias Amani Ortiz.

She and her husband moved from New Jersey to Maryland in 2002, to live with her daughter Juanita Mueller and family.  William Winters passed in 2014.  In 2021, Helen returned to New Jersey, spending the next year with her devoted daughter, Genevieve, surrounded by her beloved granddaughter, Natasha and loving great grandson Elias.

Helen was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1949 and soon afterward married her betrothed William Winters, on July 11, 1953, who had been baptized in 1952.  Together, they served as Jehovah’s Witnesses raising their six children.  Helen was devoted to serving Jehovah God loyally and happily all her life up and until her death, serving her God Jehovah for 73 years and William served for 64 years, faithfully and happily.  She and William believed Jesus’ promise in the Bible at John 11:25: “I am the Resurrection and the Life. The one exercising faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life”.

Jesus promised that millions now dead will live again on this earth and have the prospect of remaining on earth forever under peaceful, paradise like conditions.  There is no doubt that Jehovah and his Son are both willing and able to fulfill the promised resurrection.  Jehovah promised to restore Paradise on this earth under the rule of His heavenly Kingdom in the hands of the now glorified Jesus Christ.  In that restored Paradise, the human family will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from sickness and disease.  Gone, too will be all hatred, racial prejudice, ethnic violence, and economic oppression.   It will be into such a beautiful, cleansed earth that Jehovah God through Jesus Christ will resurrect the dead.

It was this hope that both Helen and William firmly believed and shared with all who would listen; A hope they so looked forward to being fulfilled.  One that Glorifies Jehovah as The Universal Sovereign and cleanses His Name.  One that spurred them on through their lives.  A Hope they will say, when welcomed and reacquainting with family and friends, that makes them overjoyed that so many others lived by and cherished.
