Obituary of Ruth A Grandinetti
Ruth A. Grandinetti passed away peacefully after a short illness, surrounded by family, on May 21, 2022, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, NJ.
Ruth was born in Pringle, PA on August 16, 1934, daughter of William and Anne McGill Quinn. At a young age, following the grave illness of her mother and the death of her father, she was lovingly adopted by Joseph and Mary Hart Pfeifer. She was raised in Carbondale, PA and a 1953 graduate of Ben Franklin High School there.
Ruth married Anthony F. Grandinetti in 1959 and together they enjoyed over 40 years of marital happiness until his death in 2001.
She was a Dover resident for more than 60 years. Prior to retirement, she was cafeteria employee in the Dover Public School system. Above all, Ruth was a dedicated and cherished wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Nothing pleased her more than to be surrounded by (or on the phone with) family, chatting away about what was happening in their lives. A truly selfless woman, she delighted in their accomplishments and suffered in their tribulations, but never boasted or worried us with her own. She enjoyed writing poems, doing crossword puzzles, and traveling – including a trip to Ireland to visit her many cousins that was especially treasured. Fun times included the casino jaunts and card games with her tightknit group of friends, aka “the ladies.” Ruth was a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Dover and devoted to daily rosary prayer.
In addition to her husband Anthony, she was predeceased by sister, Joan Kohut. She is survived and deeply missed by sons, Thomas of Dover and Joseph (and wife Maria) of Mountain Top, PA, beloved grandchildren Julianna and Joseph Grandinetti, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 9-10am at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ (www.tuttlefh.com). A Funeral Mass will be held the same day at 11am at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Dover. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in East Hanover.
