Obituary of Spyridoula Papadopoulos
Spyridoula Papadoulos, 90, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2022 in Dover, NJ, surrounded by loved ones. She was born April 14, 1932, in Eleftheriani, Greece to Thoma and Efthimia (Pittas) Pexos. She is predeceased by her husband, Demetrios, daughter, Zoe Paleocostas, son-in-law, Vasilios, and brother, Gregory Pexos.
Spyridoula immigrated with her family from Greece to the United States in 1966. With only an elementary school education, cut short by WWII, Spyridoula worked for Howmet Aerospace Corporation for 10+ years. She and her husband worked tirelessly to provide for their family, finally moving them into their first home at Maple Avenue some years later.
Further establishing Dover roots, they moved from Maple Ave to East MacFarlan Street, where Spyridoula spent her time as a homemaker, creating a legacy of family holidays, dinners, and unconditional love that has only grown stronger through generations. The definition of a true matriarch, Spyridoula was a humble and hardworking woman of few, but wise words. She enjoyed the simple things in life, like spending her time with family, visiting with her old village friends, and cooking delicious meals. Her greatest joy in life was loving and taking care of her beautiful grandchildren.
Spyridoula is survived by her daughter, Efthimia Gizas and husband Constantinos. Her 7 grandchildren and their spouses: Angie, Billy, and Dimitri, Steven (wife Ashley), Vicky (husband Billy), Sandy, and Dimitri (wife Dana). And her beloved 7 great grandchildren: Christiana, Adriana, Loula, Zoe, Demi, Alexander, and Mila.
