Obituary of Joanne Zarger
E. Joanne Zarger, born December 14th 1930, passed away peacefully on August 18th, 2022 at the age of 91, in her Mine Hill residence where she resided for 65 years.
Joanne was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert S. Zarger, with whom she was joyfully married for 52 years. Joanne grew up in Pottstown, PA and moved with her husband to Mine Hill in 1957 where they raised all three of their daughters.
Joanne was well known in her community as an Avon lady for many years, and was also an avid antique dealer. She found passion in the collection of antique bottles and at one time was a member of several bottle clubs. She sold at her own shop, antique shows and flea markets, landing last at the Scranberry Coop in Andover, NJ.
Joanne was a proud member of the Mine Hill American Legion Auxiliary and the Mine Hill Seniors Club. For many years she led bus trips to Atlantic City, Wildwood, New York City, the Poconos, and other fun destinations. Anyone who knew Joanne knew she had a flair for style, always wearing bright colors, makeup, and beautiful jewelry. She also loved vacationing with her family each summer to the Jersey Shore and Cape Cod.
Joanne is survived by her three daughters, LeeAnne Zarger of New Milford, CT, Amy Ryan and her husband Anders of Hanover Township, NJ, and Emily Rathjens and her husband Peter of Wharton, NJ. She also leaves behind her six granddaughters, Alyssa, Amanda, Trista, Jessica, Tara, and Melanie, her two great grandchildren Norah and Caden, and her beloved kitties, Kiwi and Mango.
Services will be held privately with her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to the Mine Hill Fire Department in Joanne’s memory.
