Obituary of Eugene Filipponi

EUGENE G. FILIPPONI   1936-2022

Gene Filipponi, 86, entered into the presence of the Lord on November 9, 2022, at the home of his daughter in Broadview Heights, Ohio.

Gene was born and raised in Nutley, NJ by his parents (Francis & Marjorie) and grandparents (Eugene & Elizabeth) and lived his life in Parsippany, NJ.  He proudly served in he US Navy after graduating from Nutley High School.  He retired from Hoffmann-LaRoche after 40 years.

Gene married Marietta, his beloved wife of 64 years.  He was brother to Debbie Polidura, father to Tammy (Matt) Finn & Steve (Nancy) Filipponi and grandfather to Julia & Ian Finn and Tyler & Taylor Filipponi, whom he dearly loved.

Gene loved to serve the Lord by loving and serving those around him: his family, at his church (Jacksonville Chapel), on mission trips, motorcycle rides (Christian Motorcycle Association) and amateur radio (AG2R).

He was a sentimental jokester who “cried at gas station openings” and loved spending Sunday afternoons watching Nascar with his son and family.

He will be greatly missed by those who survive him, but we will see him again “at the last trumpet sound” (I Thessalonians 4:16).

Visitation 2-6 with Memorial service from 5-6.

Glendale Cemetery

Graveside Service and Burial at 11 am. Meeting at the Cemetery.
