Felix E. Schletter, MD recently passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was born in January 1932 in Vienna Austria, the only child of Dr. Edmund and Irene Schletter. He was raised in Newark, NJ and graduated from Weequahic High School in 1949, and Rutgers University in 1954. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1958. After medical school, he served his country as a Captain in the Air Force at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL.
Felix was a renowned internist and endocrinologist, practicing in Morristown NJ for over 40 years until his retirement in 2002. He has an extensive list of grateful patients, medical and community personnel and caring friends with whom he has enjoyed long relationships. During his tenure at Morristown Memorial Hospital, some of his accomplishments include President of the Medical Staff, Section Head of Endocrinology, Member of Board of Trustees and Advisory Council and Member and Chairman of numerous Senior Committees. In the 1980’s he was the Founder, CEO and Chairman of the Physician Hospital Alliance. After retirement from active practice Felix continued volunteer work as the Medical Director of the Morris County Medical Reserve Corps, member of the Bioterrorism Task Force and Disaster/Pandemic Ethics Boards.
Felix was married to Dolores Schletter for 38 years and he is survived by their 6 children and their families: David Schletter, Deborah Cobo and husband Ron, Katherine Aasmaa and husband Rein, Gregory Schletter and wife Marit, Laura Katzenberger and husband Rudy, Susan Plotts and husband Bryan, and Pepa to his cherished 13 grandchildren; Jasen and wife Gina and great grandson Crew, Alison and husband Bill along with his daughter Kylie, Julia, Aleksander, Mark, Michael, Sofia, Brandon and wife Ally, Nicole, Corey, Brianna, Tristan, Kayla.
He is survived by his wife Linda and her children and their families: Kim Connaghan and husband Joe, Cindy Caramico and husband Joe and Keri McMahon. In addition, he has 7 step-grandchildren; Morgan, Maddy, Aiden, Nick, Colin, Bella and Hugh.
Felix and Linda lived in Randolph for over 25 years and especially enjoyed their world-wide travels to many European countries; China, the Middle East and South America and most recently their winters in Naples, Fl. Felix’s love for reading, travel, fine dining and adventures has kept them very busy over the years.
Felix’s Memorial Visitation will be at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph www.tuttlefh.com on Wednesday March 8, 2023 from 11:00am-12:15pm followed by a Memorial Service at 12:15. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ would be appreciated.
