Obituary of John Kovach Jr.
John Kovach Jr., known as Jack to friends and family, died Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at his home in Flanders. He was 82.
He was the husband of Judith Ann Kovach. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 25.
Born in Randolph on Sept. 13, 1940, he was the son of John Kovach Sr. and Audrey Lawrence Kovach and the step son of Betty Landis Kovach.
Shortly after graduating from Dover High School in 1958, he entered the U.S. Navy. Upon completion of the Great Lakes Training Center, he served aboard the destroyer tender USS Yosemite. He was particularly proud of his service to the country.
He spent two decades with New Jersey and Jersey Central Power & Light, before launching his own business, Lamp Post Electric. He owned and operated a successful commercial and industrial electrical construction company well into his 70s.
He married Judith Ann Riker on May 25, 1963. They raised three sons: John III (Kathy) of Hamden, Conn.; David, of West Chester, Pa.; and Jeffrey (Jill Hagen) of Colchester, Conn.
In addition to his sons, he is survived by three grandchildren: Austin, Logan and Hunter; two sisters, Joan MacKenzie and Shari Sweedy; a brother, Ralph Kovach; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2023, also at the funeral home.
Interment: Berkshire Valley Cemetery, Wharton.
