Obituary of Bernadette S. Suler

Bernadette S. Suler January 17, 1935 - October 28, 2023 Bernadette (Bernie) S. Suler (nee Steck), 88, of Ledgewood, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023. 

A funeral mass will be held at St. Therese R.C. Church in Succasunna,  Friday, March 8, 2024. Bernadette was born in Cedar Grove, NJ, she graduated from Verona High School in 1953. Mrs. Suler was a resident of Ledgewood since 2002.  She previously lived in Butler for over 40 years.  Bernadette worked as the bookkeeper at Poor Henry's Pub and Restaurant in Montville for over 30 years.

  Mrs. Suler was a parishioner of St. Therese R.C. Church in Succasunna, Our Lady of the Magnificent in Kinnelon, and St. Anthony's R.C. Church in Butler. Bernadette was an avid baker, known by family and friends for her pumpkin bread and annual Christmas cookies.  She enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching football and her passion for watching all tennis matches.  She was also a happy member of "Every Young Seniors" of Roxbury. Bernadette was a loving wife to her husband, Anthony (Cookie) Suler.  She was proud to marry into such a large; fun loving extended family.

She was a devoted and loving mom and a playful, sometimes silly, loving grandma. She is survived by her son, George, and his wife Patty of New Hope. PA,  daughters Lorene Suler Gallahue of Hackettstown, NJ, and Sharon Calafiore, and her husband Salvatore (Sammy), of Winnabow, NC, four grandchildren, Katelyn and her husband, Joseph, Toni, Brian, and Joshua, along with many other loving family and friends. Bernadette predeceased by her husband of 50 years of marriage,  Anthony (Cookie) Suler, 2009, her daughter, Mary Edwards, 2019, and her granddaughter, Samantha Lorene Calafiore, 2002.
