Obituary of James L Flanagan, Jr.
James L. Flanagan, Jr., 65, of Dover, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center. He was born in Montclair to the late Eleanor and James L. Flanagan, Sr.
In the 65 years that Jim lived, he was so many things to so many people. He was a son, a brother, a loving husband, a father, a grandfather, an uncle and a great friend to so many.
He was the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor for Consumer Product Testing in Fairfield for 32 years.
Jim truly had a heart of gold, always looking out and doing for others. He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to put a smile on everyone’s face. He was a devout Christian and Deacon of Every Nation Church NJ, in Randolph. He spent much of his free time worshipping with his spiritual family and was responsible for organizing many church functions and events. He had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed cooking for others. He was known for making the best pancake breakfasts, brownies, and pigs in a blanket. He loved surprising everyone from his Pastor to his grandchildren and nieces and nephews with his brownies and Munchkins.
He is survived by his wife Dottie of 26 years; daughter Dawn and her husband Rhys of New Port Richey, FL; four grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Jackie, Kylie, Kelsie and Kirsten; two great-grandsons Emmett and John. He is also survived by his three sisters Kathy, Colleen, and Patty and her husband Bob; two nephews Kevin and his wife Tina, and Kristopher and his wife Paula; five great nieces and nephews Alexa, Aiden, Emma, Kaitlyn, and Kevin; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 4:00-7:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph. A funeral service will follow at 7:00PM. Interment is private.
