Obituary of Bruce N Levy
Bruce N. Levy, 82, passed away at Morristown Medical Center on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
Bruce was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 28, 1941 and was a resident of White Meadow Lake in Rockaway for the past 52 years. He was truly the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend anyone could hope to have. Bruce began his career at the Wall Street Journal as a copy boy working his way to senior research editor until his retirement in 2001. His grandchildren will tell you that you should just ask Grampa because, “he knows everything.” He took pride in his work but his greatest pride was his family, extended family, and his volunteer work. He served in multiple executive board positions as a member of the Rockaway Township Lions Club, White Meadow Lake Board, and as the president of the White Meadow Lake Seniors Friendship Club until his passing.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Julia (Smith) Levy and his brothers Jacob Levy and Paul Levy.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara, his children, Barbara and her partner Lee, and Paul and his wife, Robin, his grandchildren, Nicolette and her fiancé Christopher, Anthony, Nicole, Jarrid, Geoffrey, and Charles, his great grandson Luca, his brother Lawrence, his “favorite” brother in-law Charlie, and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brightest light in any room. He was always the first with a story (that may not have always been 100% the truth), a comment that made you think, or to offer to barbecue, but only on a charcoal grill while wearing a bandana and drinking a beer because, “it’s 12 o’clock somewhere”. He made everyone he met feel like they were the only person in the world and that they genuinely mattered. He was everyone’s Grampa/Papa Bruce. There is no one that will ever be quite like him.
Relatives and friends will be received at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph Township, NJ from 9am until 11:30 am on Saturday, November 25th. Bruce’s funeral will be conducted graveside from the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 35 Church Street, Rockaway, NJ at 12pm on Saturday, November 25th. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (Hackensack).
