Obituary of Alfred H Delvey

Alfred H. Delvey, of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the age of 91. Alfred was born on March 6, 1932, in Dover, NJ to Joseph and Mary (Alloco) Delvey.  He was also a proud graduate from Dover High School.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Costello) Delvey; his daughter, Karen; his son, Michael; and his sister, Jeanette. Alfred is predeceased in death by his siblings, Mary, Joe, and Albert.  He is also survived by nieces & nephews & grand nieces and nephews.

Alfred graduated from high school, then went on to work as a Draftsman for JCP&L in Dover, NJ where he retired. As a proud Veteran of the Navy, Alfred spent a large portion of his time working on jet airplanes and served until honorably discharged in 1959.

Growing up, Alfred was a running back and kicker for the Dover Tigers and continued to play when he was in the Navy. Outside of work, he spent his time playing music in the Dover Cadets and was a member of various bowling leagues, an activity that has consumed him all his life. He also enjoyed a quality round of golf, despite not being very good at it.  Alfred was also a member of the Wm H Hocking American Legion post 91 in Wharton.

Visitation will take place between 3:00PM – 6:00PM on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph (tuttlefh.com).

Funeral Service will take place at 11:30AM on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Tuttle Funeral Home.

Interment to follow at 12:30PM on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Locust Hill Cemetery.
