Obituary of Nickolas A Staikos

Nickolas A. Staikos, 76 passed away on Thursday, November 23rd at his residence in Dover, NJ surrounded by his family. He was born on August 14, 1947, in Pokista Greece, to Alexandros and Lambrini (Gizas) Staikos and was the oldest of 6 children. He is predeceased by his brother, Odysseas Staikos who died in infancy.

He is survived and will be missed by his loving wife of 49 years Georgia (Nakopoulos) and his children Linda (Brian) Alex (Angela) and Demetrios Staikos. Nick was very proud of his children and will be forever cherished and remembered as Papou by his four loving grandchildren Demitri, Nicholas, Antony and Georgina. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved spending any time he could with them. Nick is also survived by his brothers, Vasilios (Marina), Konstantinos (Stavroula), sisters, Yianoula (Vasilios) and Panagiota (Nickolas) and many nieces and nephews.

Nick worked as a cook on a merchant marine and traveled the world.  He jumped ship in the US hoping to begin a new life where a man dedicated to hard work could thrive and control his own destiny.  Nickolas returned to Greece in 1974 to marry Georgia and together they returned to NJ where they built an amazing life and raised their three children. Nick went on to work numerous restaurant jobs before starting his own restaurant, the Rainbow Restaurant in Caldwell, NJ.

Nick and Georgia enjoyed traveling extensively however his true love was returning back to his beloved Greece where he built his dream home for his family in the US and Greece but was truly the happiest spending time in Nafpaktos and his village, Pokista. His legacy will live on in his beloved family who will keep his memory eternal.

Visitation will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ on November 27h from 4-7pm. The funeral services will be held on November 28th at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in Randolph NJ at 10am. Interment Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover NJ.
