Obituary of Laverne L. Barrett
Laverne L. Barrett 91, of Dover, passed away at her home on Friday, December 22, 2023.
Laverne was the Secretary to the Planning Board and the Board of Adjustment in Dover. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish in Dover and a member of the Holy Rosary Society at Sacred Heart. She was also a member of the Dover Historical Society, the Dover Library Board and the Board of Trustees for the Dover Free Public Library. Laverne was an avid reader and World War II history buff. She had a fondness for gardening and took immense pleasure in her herb garden. Every summer she canned leftover garden vegtables for use in the winter. In 2001 she won fist place in the USPL Pro-Fitness Bench Press Championships. She enjoyed thrifting with her daughters. Her fondest memories are of her trip to England and visiting the home of Winston Churchill. She loved spending time with her children,grandchildren and great grandchildren and partaking in the occasional pint of beer.
Her kindness and generosity were experienced by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Laverne is survived by her 6 daughters; Anne Becker, Pamela Barrett, Melissa Barrett, Melanie Guindon, Kathryn Barrett (John Zani) and Amy Gathagan (Bob Gathagan). Her son; William J. Barrett (Jaclyn Adler) and her 7 grandchidren; Patrick Ceres, Emily Pringle (Tim Pringle), Jocelyn Jimenez (Al Jimenez), Andrew Guindon, Ryan Guindon, Caitlyn Gilbert (Seth Gilbert) and Haylee Gathagan. She is also survived by her 7 great grandchildren; Tristan, Weylyn, Eoin, Henry, Hugh, Mckinley and Caroline.
She is predeceased by her husband William Louis Barrett, her daughter, Elizabeth Barrett and her son-in-law Richard Guindon.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27,2023 from 3pm to 7pm at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10am at Sacred Heart Parish in Dover. Interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover.
