Obituary of Vicente A Mojica

Vicente Alegre Mojica, 88, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Merry Heart Nursing Home, Succassuna.

Vicente’s life began in January 22, 1935 in Mendez Cavite, Philippines, to Honesto Sr. and Irene Mojica. The third oldest of nine siblings, Vicente or “Vic” Mojica finished high school at Francisco Law school in Manila.Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the US Navy where recruitment was actively being held in the Philippines during that time. His great sense of responsibility to help provide for his family, led him to enlist at an early age. He served for 20 years and became Chief Petty Officer in 1970. After retirement in 1973 he settled with his family in the Philippines, raised and educated children, Claire, Vincent, and Lynn, while also finishing his own college degree at Lacson College in Manila, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce. He and his wife Rosalinda Samaniego Mojica were wed in Texas in 1961 and were happily married for 46 years, until her passing in 2008. He has since been residing in Ledgewood, New Jersey, with his daughter and her family.

Vicente, was also known as Daddy Vic, Uncle Vic, Brother and Kuya Vic, Grandpa Vic, and also “Enteng” in his younger years. Raised as a devout Catholic, Vicente also served as a Eucharistic minister in the Philippines. As a couple, they were also active in leading the Marriage Enrichment programs held in the parish community. 

Vic was very much a family man. He wore his love of Family, God, and Country on his Shirts, his hats, and in his home. Simple and always smiling, he never let others leave with a frown. Hardworking, loving, thoughtful, Vic was always attentive to others’ needs. A principled man, he was a ready listener for anybody who needed a word of advice, or simply be a listening ear. 

Vic never let a good ice cream down, craving for it until his last weeks. He loved to sing and do ballroom dancing with his wife. He lived the motto “The family that prays together, stays together”, instilling the devotion of praying the Holy Rosary and the prayer to the Divine Mercy daily to his family. Pious and devoted to Christ the King, he always had a desire to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. 

Vicente is survived by his children Dr. Claire Rabanal and husband Dr. Andrei, of Ledgewood, Dr. Vincent Mojica and wife Dr. Judy, and Dr. Lynn Mojica, all of California. His siblings Virgilio Mojica, Cecilia Mojica and Honesto Mojica Jr. His grandchildren Timothy and Ryan Rabanal, and Matthew and Marian Mojica. He is preceded in death by his spouse Rosalinda, his parents and siblings Rogelia, Mercedes, Teresita, Benjamin and Camilo.

Visitation at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com) from 4:00PM – 8:00PM on Thursday, January 4, 2024.  Funeral Mass 10:00AM at St. Therese Church, Succasunna on Friday, January 5, 2024.  Interment is Private.
