Obituary of Lois H. Cope
Lois was born in Calais, Maine. Her family moved from there to Freeport and to Wells then on to Farmington, NH before moving to Randolph Township NJ in 1947. She was a graduate of Dover High School class of 1951. She married Julius Cope in 1952 and had five children.
She worked for Randolph Board of Education as a school bus driver for 30 years before retiring in 1995.
A member of these organizations: Mt. Freedom Presbyterian Church and its Women’s Association, the Ladies Auxiliary to Randolph Engine No. 3 and (for a time) Randolph Senior Citizens - to which she gave her all.
Lois was predeceased by her husband Julius (“Bub”) Cope in 2000. She was also predeceased by her brothers Robert and Norman Hearns and by nephews Richard Regan (64), Warren Windt (73) and granddaughter Amanda Osterby (14) - taken from us by leukemia in 2006.
She is survived by her sister Catherine Waer of Cookeville, Tenn.
Also surviving her are her three sons – Glenn and his wife Linda of Bigfork Montana, Andrew of Morristown NJ and his children son Sean - his wife Kim & her son Dom of Washington NJ and Andrew’s daughter Katherine and her husband Shaun Higgins of Byron NJ. Son David and wife Lillian and their two children Brianna and Bryce live in Long Valley NJ. She is also survived by two daughters Donna Polacek of Randolph NJ and her son Joseph and his wife Rosalyn - Saylorsburg PA & their two sons – great-grandsons Aaron and Michael and Donna’s daughter Linda Beers- her husband Robbie of Hackettstown NJ and their daughters Lois’s great-granddaughters Addison and Callie. Lois’s daughter Judith - her daughter Emily Osterby and Judy’s husband Keith Geldhauser live in E Granby, CT.
She leaves nieces Laura Rayford, Elizabeth (Betty) Forward, Jane Windt, Debbie Windt, Lynn Regan, Kathy Windt, Susan Windt, Linda Windt and nephews Edward Rayford and Daniel, David, Jeff and Mark Windt, Allen and Benjamin Waer and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Of note, grandnephew Edward Rayford was taken from Lois and his parents in 2006.
In lieu of flowers, she has asked that donations be made in her memory to Randolph Engine Co. No. 3 or the Randolph Rescue Squad.
