Obituary for Diana (Diane) Louise Hunter
Diana (Diane) Louise Hunter died on Friday, March 22, 2024 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover, New Jersey, surrounded by her family and caregivers. She was a Dover resident all her life. Miss Hunter was the daughter of Mabel Ruth Stephens Hunter and Donald Rathbun Hunter (deceased parents). A brother Donald Lambert Hunter predeceased her. She is survived by a brother Richard Stephens Hunter and his wife Maggie Hunter of Chatham, NJ, a niece Lauren Hunter Lewis and her husband Albert Lewis III of Westerly RI, a nephew Richard Drew Hunter and his wife Kathleen Brennan Hunter and two great nieces Jamie and Kaia Brennan Hunter of Portland, OR.
Miss Hunter graduated from Dover High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Arcadia University. She was a dedicated teacher for the Roxbury Township Board of Education for 48 years. In 1986, Diane was honored as Teacher of the Year for Franklin School in Roxbury Township. For 23 years, Diane was an active weekly volunteer at Morristown Medical Center. As a lifelong faithful member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Dover, NJ, she served on the vestry and participated in pasty and thrift sales. Fiercely independent and strong-willed, Diane had a wide range of friends, family, former students, colleagues and acquaintances whom she unfailingly kept in touch with through telephone calls and handwritten cards.
Visitation will be at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, West Randolph, NJ on Saturday, March 30 at 9:00 AM followed by a service at the funeral home at 10:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, North Sussex Street, Dover, NJ.
