Obituary of Cara Dawn Smith
Our dearest Cara Dawn Smith left this earth too soon on April 19, 2024, but she left us with the fondest of memories. A beautiful soul inside and out, she brightened the lives of so many with her radiant smile. Her warmhearted, carefree outlook on life was contagious. She chose to live life to the fullest and no situation could keep this brave warrior down. We will always remember her love of the sun on her face, the wind in her hair, and her toes in the sand.
Cara will be forever loved and deeply missed by her husband and love of her life, Michael Smith, and her stepson she adored, Carter. She found happiness when she found this pair and they became the trio known as MC². Among the things Cara loved most, there was nothing compared to her love for watching Carter excel at baseball and attending his games.
The youngest of four girls, Cara was raised in Randolph, NJ by her beloved father Alfred DePaola, Jr and late mother Peggy. The “Care Bear” is fiercely missed by her sisters, Kimberly Frustol, Christina Witter, Laura DiCataldo, her cherished nephews and nieces, Joel, Niyah, Malakai, Jaden, Mariah, and Lilianna, extended family and all her treasured friends who became part of her family.
Even before her own battle, Cara was passionate about helping families impacted by cancer diagnoses through her continued involvement and support of the Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation. Please donate to the DMCCF to honor Cara’s memory in lieu of flowers.
