Raymond Peter Bianco: A Life Filled with Family, Fun, and "Pop Pop-isms"
Raymond Peter Bianco, a passionate man who was remembered by everyone he met, passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2024, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 13th, 1941, in the Bronx, New York, Ray spent his childhood in West New York, New Jersey, where he graduated from Memorial High School.
Ray's life was enriched by a loving family. He is survived by his wife, Claire Devlin Bianco, his sister, Laraine Bianco Berry, and his three children, Raymond Michael (husband Steven Ellair), Kimberly Ann (husband Michael Lewis), and Joseph John (wife Keila Nibbe Bianco). He was a devoted grandfather to Sam Bianco, Kimberly's son. Ray was a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews and their children. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Raymond Bianco and Mary Grodginski Bianco,
Ray's life overflowed with passion. Like his father, he was a horse racing aficionado, with a knack for handicapping, evidenced by his final wager on Fierceness in the 150th Kentucky Derby. He and Claire cherished their frequent travels to Atlantic City, Lavalette Beach, and Cancun as well as their many road trips and cruises. Earlier years were filled with family vacations to The Wildwoods, creating lasting beach and boardwalk memories for Ray and his children.
A true New Yorker, Ray remained a loyal (though often frustrated) fan of the New York Giants. He also adored NASCAR and reveled in the art of cooking and entertaining, especially famous for his legendary baked clams. Known for his frugality and loyalty, Ray was a master at finding supermarket deals and cherished his relationships with local shopkeepers.
With a taste for California Cabernet, a habit of driving with both feet, and a whistle you could hear a mile away, Ray's personality was as unique as his life. His grandson lovingly called him "Pop Pop," and Ray will be fondly remembered for his "Pop-Pop-isms"--clever analogies, some cryptic, some hilarious, all imparting a touch of wisdom.
Throughout his life, Ray cultivated a network of loyal friends who remained by his side from his earliest days. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
