Obituary of Robert G Gathagan Jr.
Robert G Gathagan, Jr.
Dec 17, 1970 to May 13, 2024
53 Years Old
Show me a man who wore a smile no matter the time of day
Show me a man who always delivered when a tough job got thrown his way
Show me a man who volunteered to wear a Fireman’s hat
And I will show you a man named Bob Gathagan who was all of that
Show me a man who everyone would be proud to call a friend
Show me a man who had energy that never had an end
Show me man who could handle any kind of tedious job
And I’ll show you a man we were blessed to have that we just knew as Bob

Bob Gathagan passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, May 13. He was born in Denville and grew up in Boonton Township. He went to Boonton High School and then graduated from DeVry Technical school. He went on to work at Transistor Devices for 20+ years, first at their Cedar Knolls and then their Hackettstown location for 20+ years. He moved to Florida in 2013 to work for Unipower but eventually moved back to NJ in 2017.
Bob had a wonderful work ethic and his vast knowledge of electrical and ‘fix it’ tech support brought him to his most recent job, Superintendent at Pondview Estates. He was a much loved member of the maintenance staff and Pondview community. Bob was the ‘heart’ of Pondview.
He always had something nice to say, a smile on his face and went out of his way to help everyone. He had a positive impact on everyone he interacted with and will greatly be missed by all.
Bob was also a member of the Wharton Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Amy (Barrett) and daughter, Haylee. He was predeceased by his beloved father, Robert George Gathagan Sr in 1994.
His surviving family members include, his estranged mother Jacqueline Bogart of WV; sister Pamela Kelly of SC; brother Sean Bogart of MA; uncle Ronald Gathagan and his wife Rose of PA; niece Jennifer Kelly, FL and nephew Michael Kelly, SC.
