Obituary of Kyriaki Evangelis
Kyriaki Evangelis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in her home in Wharton, NJ on Saturday July 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 8, 1937 to loannis and Eirini Paxos both (predeceased) in the village of Kambia on the island of Chios, Greece. Kyriaki's life was a testament to love, devotion and selflessness.
In 1972 Kyriaki moved to the United States with her husband, Michael G. Evangelis who predeceased her earlier this year. Together they built a life rooted in love and dedication to their family. Her nurturing spirit was felt by all who knew her. Her family was her world and her love for them was boundless.
She was a cherished mother to her sons, Steven, wife Kathy, John (predeceased) and Dimitrios wife Dawn. Her grandchildren Michael S. Evangelis, Kitsa Evangelis, Michael J. Evangelis, AJ Evangelis and many nieces and nephews near & far were the joy of her life. A devoted sister, she maintained close bonds with her brothers Andy Paxos wife Margaret (predeceased), Michael Paxos wife Eleni (predeceased), sister Voula & Charlie Livas both (predeceased), Chris Paxos, wife Louisa and Jimmy Paxos, wife Litsa.
She was also deeply committed to her faith making it an integral part of her life and sharing it with everyone around her. She was a long-standing member of St Andrews Greek Orthodox Church where her presence was a constant source of warmth and kindness to all.
She was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support always putting others before herself. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and comfort her love ones.

A Funeral Visitation will be held at St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 AM with a Funeral Service to begin after at 11:00 AM (1447 Sussex Tpke, Randolph). Interment is to follow the service on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church in her honor.
