Former Executive for Honeywell International
Susan Lorelie Hofman (nee Hughson) of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 6th 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 17th, 1949, Susan was raised in Randolph, NJ and lived there for many years.
Susan married James L. Hofman in 1970. Susan was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
She retired from Honeywell International, Inc. in 2002 after serving as Vice President of Human Resources. Honeywell's Child Development Center is named in her honor. Her foresight and construction supervision helped make the center a reality on the Honeywell campus in Morristown, NJ. Susan also served as past Vice President and President of the Jersey Battered Women's Service Board of Directors. While an officer on the JBWS Board the shelter was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of more women and their children. In addition, she formally sat on the Board of Directors for the County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ.
Susan and her husband retired to Gettysburg, PA, in 2002, she was instrumental in organizing and expanding the Gettysburg United Methodist Church Clothing Ministry. Until recently, Susan sat on the on the Board of Directors for the Gettysburg Community Soup Kitchen while also making meals for needy families. Along with her husband, she was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Fairfield, PA.
Susan is predeceased by her parents, Archie and Joan Hughson. She is survived by her husband James, son Christopher and his wife Patricia of Morristown, NJ, her sister Pamela and her husband Joseph of Randolph, NJ, her brother Robert Hughson and his wife Cynthia, and brother David Hughson of Chester, NJ.
Visitation will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10 West, Randolph, NJ on Thursday August 13th from 4pm to 8pm. The Memorial service will be at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. with interment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
