Myrtle Letitia Kehoe, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013, surrounded by her family. Married to William J. Kehoe on April 9, 1944, and daughter of the late Matilda and Arthur Beck. Predeceased by her sister Beatrice Antonelli, of Rockaway. Myrtle was born and raised in Rockaway, where she lived her whole life and graduated from Rockaway High School. During the last few years of the Great Depression, she felt lucky to get five cents to go to the noon dance on Fridays! In addition, Myrtle was the official church bell ringer on Sundays and also served as Communion Steward for 20 years. She was also an active member of the “Young at Heart” and United Methodist Woman’s Club up until the time of her illness. As a member of the Pearl Chapter of Eastern Star she held many positions and was Chaplain for three years. She was proud to receive her 50 year pin in a ceremony this October.
Myrtle was active in the Denville Golden Age Club, as well as Rockaway Twp. Senior Citizen South where she was honored as being the oldest, and longest member. Myrtle and Jack truly loved the trips and times they spent with those members. She loved having Chirstmas Day dinner for her family and hosting Super Bowl parties for the last twenty three years. Family vacations were her fondest memories especially trips to Booth Bay, Maine, Ireland, and Hawaii. Myrtle and Jack’s big trip across the US was documented on Super 8 film and later placed on CD’s for the enjoyment of everyone.
