We are heartbroken over the loss of such a wonderful person, friend, and Mayor of our town. His pride in Rockaway was obvious, always at local events doing whatever he could to improve our town. He truly was a friend to all and will be deeply missed.

To the Dachisen Family:
I am so sorry that you and all of us have lost Mike. I have many fond memories of hanging out with “Little Dach.” I am so happy that I reconnected with Mike earlier this year. I hadn’t seen or talked to Mike in almost 30 years. Late last year I friended Mike on Facebook, and he later gave me a call in mid-February. We talked for about a half hour—reminiscing about old times, and filling in each other on the goings on of mutual friends, and families. Plus he filled me in on the series of events that led to him becoming mayor of Rockaway TWSP. We talked about going out for a drink the next time I visited NJ. I was really looking forward to that. May Michael Rest In Peace.

Sorry for your lose.
Loosing Mike, Jim Elder and Donna Griffin makes me realize how important it is to be thankful for the good things in life, and to enjoy each and everyday, because it is so precious. Have many good memories hanging with Mike, and some I would not put in writing, memories regardless.

Our family's 20 year history with Mike started when my son John was being coached by Mike on his first midget football team. Mike couldn't remember our last name and nicknamed my son "Bosco", which stuck all through high school. My last contact with Mike was just a few weeks ago, we stopped and talked to him while he was mowing the lawn. Mike told us he would be honored to marry us, so we started planning.
So sorry for your family's loss and for the community he served so well for so many years. Mike was a great human being and touched so many lives.
With great sincerity,
Linda Cordasco, Joseph Quackenbush.

Mike.... Were truly still in shock and can’t wrap our heads around you being gone. Ours families have known each other forever and the Dachisen roots run deep in this town. Your commitment to Rockaway Township and it’s citizens shows your true character. You were genuine, caring and stood behind every thing you believed in. You and your family have done much for this community. You always had a smile and either a joke or wise comment. I’m sorry the past few months have been so rough on you, you certainly didn’t deserve it. Rest Easy Mike and know that several of us still have your back and will continue to fight for what is right for our town.
To the Dachisen family,
We are truly heartbroken for your loss. There are no words to ease your pain but take comfort in knowing how much Mike meant to so many people and accomplished so much. Most of all, he was proudest of his family... he loved Cathy, the kids and grandchildren beyond words. Keep the fond memories of him with you always and he will live on forever in all your hearts. Our deepest sympathy to you all.

Still in shock over hearing the very tragic news about a great guy I grew up with. So many memories of hanging with Mike during our high school years. Always admired him and was so happy, but not surprised, to see how successful he was along with marrying Kathy, the best, and building a beautiful family together. I remember going with Mike to pick up that white Corvette and driving it back while he rode his Harley home all the time looking at me with that expression that You better not crack that car or screw it up!! Very funny thinking of that moment. Too many to write on this page so I’ll cut it short while sending all my heartfelt thoughts and condolences to his loving, outstanding family! RIP Mike!

I am honored to call Mike my friend. he understood the meaning of community service. I think many people would be surprised by the amount of time and effort he put in to his work as mayor and his volunteerism as a community member. When faced with adversity he showed the grace and dignity of a true leader. He may have been a little rough around the edges but that's how we like our Jersey Boys. He will forever be a part of Rockaway Township and his legacy will live on. My sincere condolences to his entire family and all of his friends because there's a lot of us!

So very sorry to learn of the passing of Mike. He was a wonderful Mayor for Rockaway Township and we appreciated all he did for this Town. He was a great neighbor and friend to us for many years. Numerous Sunday’s we would see him drive by either in the Corvette or his Harley, and he would always smile and wave to us. We would see him out front during snow storms snow blowing not only his own property but his neighbors property as well. We will miss him, our neighborhood will not be the same. Condolences to the entire family.

Our condolences to every Dachisen family. There are no words. Our fathers were the best of friends in the police academy and then worked together at RTPD. Because of that, Mike and the Dachisen family were more like family than friends when we were growing up. Darren and I were such great friends in Copeland and Knolls. Mike had me sit with him and Mr. & Mrs. Dachisen at Jack Lamont’s service because he knew it was hard for me to be there. I’ll never forget that. This whole family has been so good to ours and I am so so sorry for your loss. I just recently moved back to NJ and I’m sad I didn’t get to see you. May God comfort and carry you all through this difficult time, now and always. We will keep your family in our prayers and you will stay in our hearts Mike. RIP

Great softball memory ;
Mike walks to the plate looking all broad , strong, rolls up his sleeves.
Pitch comes in Mike swings with all his power, ( thinking he’s Babe Ruth ) hits the ball everyone looking around, yelling for him to run, ball goes straight up about 100 ft in the air, comes down fair about 12 inches in front of home plate, everyone just started busting out laughing.
Going to miss you buddy !
Rest In Peace my friend !

Mike,
For over 20 years you have been a good friend and I still cannot believe that you are gone.
You were a good UPSer and was liked by everyone you met and will be sadly missed.
I will miss talking politics and having a good laugh afterwards.
You were a dedicated servant of the people of Rockaway Township as a firefighter, councilman and mayor as you worked tirelessly to make Rockaway Township a better place.
Your family could not have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, brother and son as I am sure everyone is proud of you and your love will always be with them.
Please except our condolences and may the lord comfort the entire Dachisen Family.
Rest In Peace My Friend.
