It was about 27 years ago when Russell met James, a few weeks before our first daughter
was born. Russell started a new job at Micro Business Consulting. Russell came home talking about this funny guy James. Soon after they became friends, sharing ideas and dreams. From those Dreams emerged BSP (Business Solution Providers).
I was Russell’s wife, but in no time James became Russell’s other partner. All I heard about was James stories… James James James James. He soon became my friend too. He was magnetic. If you met James you loved James. He came to my daughter’s first Birthday party and continued to attend family parties. He was all about family and we were too. We were fortunate to meet his large family as well on many occasions.
Over the years, I would joke that he was my other partner as Russell often confided in both of us about work decisions for BSP and quite often I would give him the same answer that James would.
James had the best stories about his family. He always had us rolling in laughter when talking about everyone. He was so proud of his tribe. I instantly felt a kinship. He and Russell would have discussions about religion. Russell’s father being a Rabbi and James brother’s being priests. I often marveled at his beliefs, I respected him, looked up to him and trusted him. We soon bought the Vernon condo together. Those were wonderful years.
The years went on and the company grew.
I started to hear stories about this girl named Meghan and remember distinctly the night we met Meg at James Party. She was playing pool downstairs at the house in West Orange, how suiting for James. She was friendly, beautiful and kind. From the very first time I met Meghan, I knew she was the one. James glowed. Soon after we attended his wedding. Then came Kid one John, then came kid two Ava and then came kid three Billy. It all seemed to happen so fast. When the kids were little we shared a vacation house at Lake Hopatcong. So memorable and enjoyable it was, we have recently moved there. As we spent time together I could not believe how this young guy I met years back grew into this unbelievable father. I would always say to Russell that James was the best Dad and then I had to reassure Russell that he was as well. The years went on and we shared several ski trips with the family. Everyone was busy raising their kids and we somehow seemed to drift apart a bit. This happens when you’re busy with your new priorities, your family.
James called me when he became sick to somehow reconnect. But the truth is I never disconnected. James was like a brother to me. I watched him grow from this young guy Russ met in his twenties to an unbelievable man, Business man, husband and father. He was not just Russell’s partner but I always felt like mine as well. It’s hard to believe that life will go on without him. James will forever be Russell’s business partner, mine as well, a dear friend who made footprints in our hearts.
He will be forever missed but his good name and spirit will forever live on forever.

James, my heart skipped a beat when I heard you were gone. Gone but never forgotten. In times like these we often question ourselves on what the right words are to say. What comes to my mind is fond memories. I was just a little girl when we met. You were my Uncle Russ’ best bud. You took me to Rainforest cafe and that amazing animal expo. Throughout the years you attended so many family events. I can go on but all these memories I’ll cherish forever. So many people leave footprints in our lives and you left one in mine. You will be missed, my friend. Rest in the sweetest peace and sending lots of love to your family.

James my dear friend, We will truly miss you. We will miss your friendship and the conversations we had over a drink, sharing stories about your family, silly things you did growing up...An exceptional dad who cared deeply about his kids, great husband who cared and took care of his family and a great, honest friend. Above all, great human being, who took time to help others even when he was not feeling well. I wish I can be half the great human being you were James.
Megan, John, Eva, Billy, I am so sorry for your loss, I have no right words to describe how sorry I am right now. He is one friend I can never replace in my life and I will honor him by doing my best to be a great man like him. I will miss you my friend

Please forgive me as it is difficult to find the right words to address such a tremendous loss. James and I had become very close during our years Coaching together and I can't believe that he is gone.
As you may know Coach James and I coached together from 2018-2021. His son Billy and my son Mason are the same age and as Coaches and Fathers we created quite a special bond volunteering our time together to the Randolph Wrestling Program. It is amazing how well you can get to know someone when you share so much common ground and direction. James and I spent a lot of time in the more challenging but fun grade school years teaching our young wrestlers how to learn, navigate and grow in such a difficult sport. To say that Coach James quickly earned my respect and admiration is and understatement. Before I started coaching I never realized how polarizing the experience could be. The time spent coaching with another parent is really quite special, you really get to see what they are made of quite quickly. Coach James was a compassionate man who always had time to re-teach a move to anyone in the room who didn't understand it. James was always happy to be of service as a Coach and to him every opportunity to help someone out was important There was never a task too small nor too big. He was happy to help and give to others because he knew in his heart it was the right thing to do. Many of times James was the influence of patience and understanding to me. He was always a good friend to me and accommodating to all those around him. I will never forget the year James volunteered to coach the White Team when he knew that Billy had moved up to the Blue Team. To coach for an entire year when you know your own kid won't even be at your practices is truly a selfless contribution to the sport, town, and the program that he loved.
James Shadwell was always full of love, he left every room brighter than when he entered it especially the wrestling room. As a Father James was very proud of his children. He would always tell me, but never brag about John and his wrestling, Ava and her baseball/softball (back then) and Billy, well I would tell him about how well Billy was doing on the mat! James would smile and say "That's great, I know, but you gotta see this kid on the ice, he's fast!" So even though Billy isn't wrestling this year I was still very interested in supporting him and seeing him in action.
Unfortunately, that was the last time I saw James. It was about a month ago at the Ice Rink. I finally made it to see Billy at one of his Ice Hockey games and yes James you were right, he is fast!
I love you Buddy, and we will all miss you!
Coach Tim

Tuttle Funeral home was designed as a funeral home by funeral home architects and designers. Unllike many funeral homes that were originally old homes and then were converted into funeral homes.
Though it was designed as a funeral home, it still provides the warm comforting feeling of a home, but with more space and an open feeling.
